about

From the archives - previously unreleased recordings 1986-1989, the only available recordings by this legendary duo.

Side one on the CD pressing was Mazes (now track 5), commissioned by jody oberfelder projects, which at the time was called overfoot dance co, in may 1989, and originally recorded on a nagra at el bohio, a community center on 9th street east of tompkins square park in nyc.

Side two (tracks 1-4) was recorded live at san francisco’s noe valley ministry in 1986 by our friend petra a visiting german artist using a walkman with tiny microphones embedded in the earpieces.

The bonus track (track 6), truxton, was recorded by phill niblock at his experimental intermedia foundation space in nyc in 1987 for an unreleased compilation album by the residents' ralph records. it was based on a riff by john nicholas and the early 1970s art rock band charles octet and firedog, whose music can be found elsewhere on bandcamp.

The martini-making sometimes rears its head at sporadic Salon parties in a NoChe loft but live performances are exceedingly rare. Recordings are all! ... more
